Glacier National Park is a year-round wonderland with spectacular alpine vistas and vast valleys filled with ancient trees. You can climb through alpine meadows strewn with lichen-covered boulders, follow trails pioneered by famed Swiss mountain guides, or take a quiet stroll through moss-draped old-growth cedars. You can return to the cottage and unwind after a day of touring.

Glacier National Park, the country’s tenth national park, protects 1 million acres of glacier-carved peaks and valleys, beautiful blue lakes and streams, and deep ancient forests for everyone to enjoy. The park’s mission was to promote peace and friendship between the United States and Canada. The Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park was established in 1932 in Alberton, Canada, by combining Glacier and Waterton Lakes National Parks.

It crosses the Continental Divide, making it susceptible to harsh weather. Because the opposing Pacific and Arctic airs collide at the Divide, a dramatic weather battle occurs. If you’re going to the park for the day, remember to bring rain gear and additional clothing.
