Have you seen these kits homes appearing in online stores lately? This is only an example. I’m not quite sure what to think of them and hope the community can give me some feedback about the product. These are apparently steel frame cabin kits, but for a large “barnhouse.” Look at the photos and you can see how much room there is. You can also customize the layout by putting bedrooms on the first floor or second.
According to the builders, this is AmeriBuilt’s “American Barn Style Home Shell Kit Over all 44′ wide x 40′ deep. 2560 sq ft + porch”
Center section is 20′ wide x 40′ with a 19′ side wall, approx 23 to peak.
Each side has a 12′ w x 40′ enclosed lean to, approximately 10.5′ in height at the lowest point.
2nd floor mezzanine is 20′ x 40′ includes steel girders & floor joists (plywood

The interior of the home can be finished using a variety or materials including wood, sheetrock and metal. The customer will design the interior floor plan. I don’t really know. Although it sounds like an affordable option, you would have to be very handy and athletic to assemble this kit, or hire someone to do the work. Should we cover more kit homes?
