This home was built to look like it has been around for years. We love it! Minnesota design company, Murphy & Co., helped with the concept and construction of this one-of-a-kind 860 square foot home near Lake Minnetonka and the result is unbelievable.
The Gatehouse was built with antique materials and re-used items to give it an authentic feel. The roof was salvaged from a building built in Pennsylvania in the 1910s and the limestone walls came from the Lake St. Bridge.
The earth tone color scheme, leather and wood furnishings and the warm feel of the house are all thanks to the earth tones. The beautiful hardwood floors were refinished in 1880s Wisconsin to fit perfectly into the home.
The exposed beams, posts and chunky posts add character to this pitched roof. They come from barns built in Minnesota between the 1860s-1870s.
The fireplace is a focal point in the home. It was made of stone from Iowa that was left rough-looking rather than polished and recut. Even the interior of the fireplace was customized using herringbone stones!
