Explore rustic living in a perfect little cabin that comes with the most gorgeous surprise

  • 4 min read

Americans love to travel. It is difficult to imagine a modern citizen who hasn’t visited at least five of our United States, but few of us can claim to have visited our most remote — and probably the most naturally spectacular — of all our 50 states.
Nautique Sky, located 28 miles north from Fairbanks, Alaska, offers a rustic, off-grid cabin experience unlike any other in America. During the winter, the cabin is bejeweled by the awesome spectacle of the Northern Lights — majestic!

Listed on AirbnbThe cabin is large and situated in a beautiful field with wildflowers. It has a simple deck that gives access to the inside.
The cabin is a rustic retreat that offers a true Alaskan experience. The home is powered by natural gas, and the outhouse is used to provide water, as is Fairbanks tradition.
The simple cabin is a great complement to the rugged outdoor getaway. A fully equipped kitchen is perfect for quick meal preparation. The fold-out sofa can accommodate up to four people.

This snug cabin is easily heated by the wood-burning stove. The table seats four people, and the glass doors lead to the deck for outdoor dining.
The floor plan is spacious and easy to heat, but not too small to allow four adults to move around comfortably. The loft bedroom is reached via the stairs.
The loft is large enough to accommodate a queen-size bed. The windows at the front, back and side allow for plenty of light and give stunning views of the countryside.

Good morning — welcome to Alaska!
This simple space for sleeping will be warmly welcomed at night by gas lamps.
We find a wood-burning cedar hot bathtub just outside.

You can see aurora borealis in full flower!
The cabin is not for the faint-hearted. It has a private outhouse. This is true rustic living in the far north.
It’s not too bad if the bright northern lights light your way to the bathroom.

Oh, Alaska. One day I will be able to travel there. It’s so powerful, but only the truly dedicated can use it.
