Because of their strength, availability, and affordability (as used purchase), shipping containers are a constant influence on the world’s house-building industry. Shipping containers are used to build everything from tiny homes to large mansions. This one is also quite large. It is a simple layout. But wouldn’t you say the large elements — shipping containers — were used pretty decently?
Recently, I found this company that compiles many shipping container house designs into a pdf download book called “Container Homes.”
This is a 7,200 sq. ft. hybrid shipping container home, built in Bucks County, Pennsylvania by Bill Mathesius and Martha Mosely.
Martha and Bill were inspired by an abandoned concrete Foundation that was left on their land following a failed, unrealized construction project by its previous owner. They designed, planned, and managed the construction this stunning 7,200 sqft home made from 11 recycled shipping containers.
“Situated on ½ an acre the contemporary structure takes full advantage of the spectacular views of the Delaware River in Bucks County Pennsylvania.”
